Kadiri lakshmi narasimha swami

Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple is located in the heart of the town of Kadiri, in Anantapur district 90 Kilometers from Ananthapur.Legend has it that after annihilating Hiranyakashipa the Lord conciliated by the prayers of Prahlada shuns his frightening persona and appears in a protecting semblance. The deity at Kadiri symbolizes this transformational phase of the Lord who is in a stage of his fury culminating on Hiranyakashipa on his lap and becoming appeased to the prayers of Prahlada with folding hands on his side.

The Lord’s consort Sri Maha Lakshmi Devi is in an adjoining Sanctorum and is also called Sri Amrutha Valli Ammavaru here.Since it is also said that the Murthy of the Lord Sri Narasimha Swamy in the Sanctum Sanctorum of the temple emerged from a Khadri Vrksham in Sanskrit, (Maddi tree in Telugu) the place came to be known as Khadri slowly transforming into its current vernacular form Kadiri. The astonishing aspect of the Murthy here is after the daily Abhishekam is performed to the Lord, the Murthy of the Lord Keeps trickling out water droplets incessantly as they are being wiped off.
